Description
“Still Standing Tall”
“Be a lighthouse. Shine for others when they are in darkness.”
– Unknown
The Sturgeon Point Lighthouse, built in 1870, and still operational, stands proudly today. It serves, in addition to it’s purpose, also as a historical reminder of the sheer importance that shipping was to our area up until the early 20th century.
This was – to date – my first and only visit to this beautiful spot. It was cloudy, as you can see. Would be a good place to enjoy both a sunset & sunrise I feel (and based on some other images I’ve found online). So, definitely this is going to be a challenge spot for me going forward. Look for more!!
The Alcona Historical Society are the caretakers of the Sturgeon Point State Park’s Sturgeon Point Lighthouse, look them up (click the link) if you’d like to learn more about what they do for our community. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post about this park & museum.
We hope you love this as much as we do.
