“Soul of Autumn”
Notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature.
This really is true for me. Autumn is often fever pitch time for photographers. Especially “portrait artists” – which was what Jess and I have done for the last decade – as they attempt to cram in as many sessions as possible before the humdrum of winter when the people want nothing to do with being outside having their portraits taken.
Concentrating more on landscape and nature photography more nowadays has showed us both the power of biophilic bliss, and the healing of the soul that comes with spending time amongst such splendid beauty. Autumn is almost a mournful last hurrah for nature as it prepares itself for the long, dark winter time where most of the flora is lying in rest, waiting for spring.
I feel this quite rather exemplifies this year. Concentrating as much on our soul as anything. Trying to maintain sanity in what is a rather insane world. Nature is nature, and it changes in much the same way as it always does – irrespective of what humanity is doing amongst their own creations.
This tree – the soul of the forest – is surrounded by it’s younger brethren who are surrounding it with the last color of the year.
We hope you love this scene as much as we do.
