Life’s Little Blessings.
Jessica and I have both talked about “moving up North” and our grand plans to become full time nature photographers before. As our friends & family know – God clearly had other plans for us… These days we hardly have any time to spend doing what we moved up here to do. So much so, it has become our running joke. So, if you’ve been curious as to our extended absence here on this blog… This is a little piece about precisely that.
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
Psalm 100:4
The reason, we believe, is no laughing matter. And, we are not upset – at all. You see, it was God’s plan all along! We simply needed to follow His will for us.
We are grateful God had a plan for us.
So after a busy day doing what we are called to do yesterday, we came home with grateful hearts. We had a relaxing ride home after a day of being surrounded by some of the beautiful & amazing people we have met on our journey. Each beautiful soul we have met is a true blessing to us. An unsought blessing that has been brought into our lives by God. It’s crazy… We wouldn’t have met a single solitary one of these amazing people, had we not listened to God’s subtle nudge shortly after moving up here.
While it may be true that our time up here has changed our lives, and is not even close to what we had planned to do. We see clearly that God’s plans are bigger and better than our little minds can even begin to fathom. It is incumbent upon us to listen and follow His will. Even if it does not align with our own plans.
We always need to keep our eyes open, or we might miss something sent to us.
So, I find lately that once in a while, Jesus gives me little gifts like this. And I try to watch for them. Yesterday, it was a beautiful little scene hidden in the grass of our front lawn. These little grape hyacinths were softly kissed by the early evening sunlight. A little blessing of God’s beauty just for my eyes to see.
God often sends these beautiful little blessings my way. He knows how much I love photography. I sometimes feel like it may be a little gift sent to me.
So, sure, we didn’t get to go on a weekend adventure into the beautiful depths of nature as we may had hoped. Instead, we followed His will, and he brought the beauty to me. After all, the beauty of God’s immovable creation is all around us. We simply need to take time to notice the subtle and deep beauty into which we are immersed.
If you’re going to take something away from this, this is it!
However, most importantly, this little scene reminds me of this…
Moments like these are often precisely how God speaks to us. It is there, and it is beautiful. But, we need to pay attention to take note of it.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105
Thank you God for these little blessings. We are surrounded by your glory, even in the places we normally don’t look for it. Thank you too, for allowing me little bits of wisdom & discernment so I can hear Your voice and follow your will. It has changed my life in the most beautiful and unbelievable way.
