Today’s adventure chronicle will be continuing our ongoing mission… To find new nature and seek out new trees.. Takes us to Pinckney State Recreation Area. This beautiful Michigan State Park spans two counties and several townships within Southeast Michigan. In Washtenaw County, the park rests in Dexter, Sylvan, and Lyndon Townships. In the Livingston County areas, there are parts of the park Putnam and Unadilla Townships. As you can imagine, this is a rather large area. 11,000 acres to be precise. We began our exploration of this park earlier this spring with the Losee Lake Trail.
Our Favorite Michigan Spots – The Porcupine Mountains
If you know us personally, then you will not be surprised to know that the Porcupine Mountains State Park is our absolute favorite spot in Michigan. So much so, that we have visited (multiple times) to date. It offers a bit of everything that we love. Deep peacefulness, wilderness, magical virgin forests, rivers, waterfalls, and grand vistas. There is something for any nature lover in the Porkies. If you are looking for a new place to visit in Michigan, and love being deeply immersed in nature, you’ll want to read on about our Porcupine Mountains experiences!
It has been a crazy summer for both Jess and I. Unsurprisingly, we needed to have a few days to completely decompress. Our most favorite place to recover our sanity just happens to be a little slice of heaven located on the far Western reaches of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula known as the Porcupine Mountains. Or, as we like to call it… Heaven on Earth. (more…)
My favorite shirt ever, has the following phrase written on the back…
“I’d rather be lost in the forest, than found in the city.” As a city dweller trapped in a nature loving body, I often find myself yearning to be in the calm, quiet, and magical forests of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Since the drive to get a “nature fix” of that level is simply not feasible on a weekly basis, Jess and I have recently been on a mission to find some nature gems in the southeast region of Michigan. Our first discovery this year… the Bald Mountain State Recreation Area!
I’ve lived in Metro Detroit my whole life. So, I might be a little biased when I say that Detroit is my favorite city. Having traveled a bit in my lifetime so far, I’ve yet to encounter any city that comes close to the uniqueness of Detroit and the hospitality of her people. Detroiters love their city, passionately. It is one of the aspects of Detroit, that I truly love.
Places to Photograph in Detroit
The city of Detroit has such a diverse landscape and culture. As you might imagine, the scenes that the city offers are just as diverse as the people living here. As photographers, you’ll always find something interesting to point your lens at, no matter where you are and what time of year it may be. We are here to give you some ideas on both Detroit photography locations and provide links to our posts outlining more specific techniques you can employ throughout the downtown Detroit area.
Welcome to Michigan Photography
We would like to formally welcome you to the grand opening of our new Michigan Photography web store! This has been a long time coming for Jessica and myself. For several years we have been planning this adventure. A big part of this was building a portfolio of images that we want to share with the world. This website will entirely feature our passion for sharing the beauty of the world around us. As Michigan happens to be our home and, the part of the world that we love the most… You can expect many artistic portrayals of our beautiful state to be shared here. A little warning to go along with that. we do enjoy traveling out of the state on occasion. As a result you will also find images from those periodic adventures as well.
